From October 1, 2021, Egypt enforced the ACID (Advanced Cargo Information Declaration) declaration in all ports nationwide. It authorized the CargoX platform as a document transmission portal for blockchain technology, specifically used to process ACI (Advanced Cargo Information) declaration letters, bills of lading, and all other necessary original documents. Air cargo is temporarily not included in this regulation.
Do companies have to register on the CargoX platform?
According to Egypt’s ACI forecast cargo information regulations, for all imported goods, the consignee must first forecast the cargo information in the local system to obtain the ACID number and provide it to the shipper. If the ACID number cannot be provided, the goods will be forcibly returned to the port of shipment and fined. The consignee provides the ACID code on the premise that the shipper has registered with CargoX and obtained the CargoX ID.
Functions of the CargoX platform
1. Secure file transfer
The CargoX platform uses blockchain technology to realize the digitization, instant transmission, and secure storage of logistics documents (such as bills of lading, invoices, etc.). This platform dramatically improves the efficiency and security of file transmission and reduces the problems of loss, damage, or tampering that may occur in the circulation of traditional paper documents.
2. Convenient logistics tracking
It provides shippers and logistics service providers with real-time tracking and management functions for goods worldwide, making the logistics process more transparent and enabling all parties to understand the location and status of goods at any time.
ACID handling and CargoX platform operation process
1. The shipper registers an account on the CargoX official website and completes the activation
2. Before the goods are shipped, the importer must upload the information in time. After the customs evaluates the goods and accepts them, the system will automatically generate the ACI Number
3. Prepare documents according to system requirements, including packing list invoice, bill of lading, certificate of origin, etc., and upload them to the CargoX platform
Notes:
1. After registering on the CargoX platform, the shipper will obtain a blockchain key. You must save this key file for subsequent login and file upload
2. When activating the CargoX account, the newly created account needs to be recharged to pass the enterprise verification. The platform amount obtained after recharging will be less than the recharge amount (the layman will deduct the corresponding handling fee). The specific recharge amount can be determined according to the actual business volume.
3. The premise of CargoX’s file upload work is the importer’s pre-ACID coding application. The subsequent file upload work will be delayed unless the importer obtains ACID in advance.
4. It is recommended that the system upload files by the departure date of the goods (data transmission and possible customs return and modification may cause delays).
5. In the platform’s file upload process, customers must be required to accurately provide all documents required for customs clearance (including but not limited to contracts, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading) before formal reporting.
